Architectural heritage

Dornoch has a rich architectural heritage. Many of the buildings are constructed of sandstone which was quarried locally. In the 1930s, someone said,
"The only remarkable thing about Dornoch is that it lies in the Highlands of Scotland - in every other regard, it is a perfectly ordinary Cotswold village."

The centre of the Town has been designated a Conservation Area.
