About Cycling

The Dornoch area offers varied terrain for cyclists of all standards. There are many excellent road routes and recommended is the 34 mile trip from Dornoch to Spinningdale and then round by Loch Buidhe to the Mound and back to Dornoch via Embo. This route is hilly and passes through wonderful scenery. Cycle hire is available at Grannies Heilan Hame holiday park in Embo and from Sam’s Bike Shed

Please check out our cycling leaflet for suggested cycle routes for all abilities.

Highland Wildcat’s trails at Golspie offer black, red and blue runs for mountain bikers. The Ben Bhraggie Trail is said to be the longest free ride in the UK.

Balblair Trails near Bonar Bridge offer both a fun blue route for competent bikers and a challenging black route for the more experienced along with stunning views of the Kyle of Sutherland and to the west.
