The Pictish Trail

About The Pictish Trail

From Dornoch, the Pictish Trail runs north to Dunrobin Castle, which has a collection of carved Pictish stones, and south to Inverness with many stops along the way, including Edderton, Tain, Shandwick, Hilton of Cadboll and Tarbat Discovery Centre in Portmahomack. All of these are home to the mysterious carved stones created by the Picts who lived here from the third to the ninth centuries.

Further afield, follow the Trail north into Caithness to Dunbeath Heritage Centre and Thurso Museum or on south through Dingwall, Strathpeffer and Rosemarkie on the way to Inverness.
