GDPR Privacy Notice

This privacy notice tells you about the information we collect from you when you complete various forms on the VisitDornoch website. In collecting this information, we are acting as a data controller and, by law, we are required to provide you with information about us, about why and how we use your data, and about the rights you have over your data.

What personal data do we collect?

When you enter our competition to win a bottle of whisky, we ask you for your name, email address and to confirm that you are 18 or over. You can, in addition, opt-in to receive newsletters.

When you request information about our Experience More activities, we ask you for your name, email address, telephone number, address and postcode, and when you are staying in Dornoch. You can select information on the selected activity or all Experience More activities. You can, in addition, opt-in to receive newsletters

When you complete our VisitDornoch Enquiry form, we ask you for your name, telephone number and email address.

When you complete our ‘How was your visit to Dornoch?’ Feedback form, we ask for your name, email address and location.

Why do we collect this information?

We will use your information for competitions to acknowledge your entry and inform you if you have won.

We will use your information for Experience More to acknowledge your request and to service your request to pass your details onto the chosen Experience Provider(s).

If you have opted in to receive our newsletter, we store your email address on the secure MailChimp server. There is an unsubscribe button on every newsletter sent out.

We will use your information on the VisitDornoch enquiry form to acknowledge your request and address any queries or feedback as appropriate.

We will use your information on the ‘How was your visit to Dornoch?’ Feedback form to acknowledge your request. Following moderation, your name and location (but not your email) will be published with your comment and star rating.

What do we do with your information?

Your information is stored on the secure VisitDornoch WordPress website and if you have opted in to receive our newsletter, we store your email address on the secure MailChimp server.

If you have requested information about our Experience More activities, your details are shared with the selected Experience More provider(s).

How long do we keep your information for?

We will keep your information for a maximum of one year on the VisitDornoch website. Your personal information will then be deleted.

Your email will be retained on the MailChimp server until you request to unsubscribe. There is an unsubscribe button on every newsletter sent out.

Your rights over your information

By law, you can ask us what information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate.

You can also ask us to give you a copy of the information and to stop using your information for a period of time if you believe we are not doing so lawfully.
