Thursday 8th & Friday 9th September 2016 – World Royal Clubs Visit

About 400 Years of Golf

In 2016 Dornoch celebrated 400 years of Golf by holding different events throughout the year. The events highlight the aspects that make Dornoch, the Club, the town and the community an international destination for visitors.

Supported by Royal Dornoch, the community of Dornoch, local businesses, the local schools, community groups and sports clubs, the year was filled with concerts, exhibitions and events that celebrate the culture and sporting history of the area.

Thursday 8th & Friday 9th September – World Royal Clubs Visit

There are 68 Royal clubs dotted around the world and each one was invited to send up to 4 representatives to come to Dornoch and play both our courses. After the second round a dinner was held to celebrate the occasion and also highlight the 400 years of golf.

Friday 14th to Sunday 16th October – Captain’s Weekend and Putt Out

The end of season weekend was for members only to close off the year together in a relaxed atmosphere. Each day there were fun golf events and on the Saturday evening a dinner. On the Sunday afternoon the Captain took the hickory club and feathery ball and hole the final putt to signify the end of the 400 year celebrations.
